This video is related to the discussion today. It's also a good watch if you want to learn more about Limp Bizkit!
I think I talked about this online, but I recently got into nu metal. Okay, let me slow down. Not only did I learn there are subgenres in metal, but I also learned that there's a genre that mixes hip-hop/funk/grunge with metal. That's what nu metal is. Honestly, after I found out about it, I went into a deep rabbit hole, and that's how I found out about Limp Bizkit. I hope I don't sound insane or anything, but before December of 2025, I had absolutely no clue who Limp Bizkit was. I was just scrolling online and saw someone talking about them, and that's when I went and searched them up. I listened to their most popular songs, and I liked them. I didn't think anything of it at first, but then a month later, I was at Walmart and looking for some CDs (I was looking to expand my collection), and I found an album called Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. My first thought? It was a weird-ass title, but my second thought was "Oh, I know that band!" I looked at the top and recognized the name; I had no clue their albums were still available to buy. Plus, it was $7, so of course, I grabbed it. I played the CD in my car...and I surprisingly liked the album. A lot, actually. I say "surprisingly" because of my relationship with rock and metal music. Don't get me wrong, I liked a little bit of metal music way before I found out about Limp Bizkit. My earliest memory of the genre is discovering Bring Me The Horizon through their song 'Sleepwalking'. I liked a few songs here and there, but I didn't expect myself to be the biggest fan until recently.
Dude, when I played that CD in my car, and I damn near liked every song, I KNEW I had to investigate further. I found more songs of theirs to listen to, and then I found their first album, Three Dollar Bill, Y'all, and when I tell y'all I LIKED THAT ALBUM TOO???? I was mostly surprised because I didn't think metal was something I could be into. I don't mean that in a rude way; it was just never a genre that I paid attention to like that. It's kind of like the same way I thought I couldn't get into country music, and then I listened to 'YA YA' by Beyoncé. Anyway, I knew Limp Bizkit wasn't the only band that had that kind of sound, so I searched for similar bands. Then, I found out about Deftones. Again, you guys are allowed to call me insane. I had no clue who they were either until last month. I heard their song '7 Words' and loved it. That's when I realized something; it wasn't that I didn't like metal, I just didn't find the right artists. It's the same with country and Beyoncé's album. I think a lot of us don't explore as much as we should when it comes to our hobbies. Me finding out I liked nu metal sent me into a fun rabbit hole; I love the screaming, the rapping, the guitar riffs, how loud and fast-paced everything is, and again, the screaming. It actually surprises me how much metal artists scream in a song. I fucking love it. Also, I can officially say I listen to everything. My favorite genre is hip-hop, yes, but nu metal might be a close second. I genuinely cannot wait to find out about other nu metal bands and listen to their stuff, too. I guess the point of me making this post was to just ramble about me finding out about Limp Bizkit and nu metal. Apparently, Limp Bizkit gets a lot of hate. I don't care, I think they're cool as shit LMAO. I also just like hip-hop a lot, so me being into nu metal weirdly makes sense. Anyway, the lesson of the day? Don't put yourself into a box, you could be into anything...and I'm not exempt from that. Also, thanks for listening!
Oh, wait, I want to share my favorite Limp Bizkit songs! I know nobody asked, lmao
